it really is beautiful up there.

the lack of power lines and trees make it seem a little eerie, though.

the school was lit up at night like that? is it always in use for something?

I was surprised by the lack of trees. I never thought that Hamilton would have been more treed than this northern community. My theory is that people cut the trees down for firewood. It makes for a vicious wind.

The school is often in use after hours and on weekends, particularly the gym. It is used as a community centre. The real community centre is not as well maintained. Also, I think that it might not have washrooms.

The lights discourage vandalism. The Education Authority pays something like $30k/year to fix broken windows.
